With a perfect 7-0 record on the weekend, the SEC East has officially locked down a collective undefeated start to the 2022 college football season.

And if LSU can open the season with a win over Florida State in New Orleans on Sunday night, the same will be true about the SEC as a whole.

After Vanderbilt opened their season with a week-zero matchup against Hawaii, the rest of the SEC East’s teams took to the field either Thursday or Saturday.

More from RTI: Tennessee Flying Under the Radar Heading Into Week Two

Thursday, Sept. 1

Tennessee def. Ball State, 59-10

  • Primed and ready for their second season in Knoxville, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel and quarterback Hendon Hooker led the charge for the Volunteers on Thursday, showing off an offensive machine that looks to be even quicker than their debut season. Hooker ended the night with four total touchdowns and the defense (Tamarion McDonald, Kamal Hadden) found two interceptions in the opener.
  • Week 2 Matchup: @ No. 17 Pittsburgh

Missouri def. Louisiana Tech, 52-24

  • Missouri’s newest attempt to get their defense back on track looks to be hot off the jump this season with the Tigers finding three interceptions in the first half of play against the Bulldogs. The Tigers’ offense found its footing in the second half and provided a comfortable victory for Eli Drinkwitz to open the season.
  • Week 2 Matchup: @ Kansas State

Saturday, Sept. 3

No. 3 Georgia def. No. 11 Oregon, 49-3

  • While it doesn’t come as a surprise to most, the Bulldogs looked terrific to open the season, even aside from Oregon’s ambitious ranking to start the year. Georgia’s defense looked locked in and daunting as usual. However, the improved play from Stetson Bennett might be the biggest takeaway from Georgia’s opener.
  • Week 2 Matchup: vs Samford

Florida def. No. 7 Utah, 29-26

  • The whole college football world is talking about Florida after their win on Saturday night. Florida survived a back-and-forth contest with Utah thanks to a game-ending interception on the goal line with just 22-seconds remaining in the game. Billy Napier’s tenure is now off to a red-hot start in Gainesville, and he’s probably feeling pretty good about the play from quarterback Anthony Richardson.
  • Week 2 Matchup: vs No. 20 Kentucky

No. 20 Kentucky def. Miami OH, 37-13

  • With the Wildcats’ victory on Saturday, Kentucky’s Mark Stoops is now tied with Bear Bryant for the most coaching victories in program history. Wildcats quarterback Will Levis took care of things in the air while throwing for more than 300 yards and three touchdowns. Kentucky only led by three points at halftime, 13-10, but found their stride in the second half.
  • Week 2 Matchup: @ Florida

Vanderbilt def. Elon, 42-31

  • Now the first SEC team with two victories this season, Vanderbilt picked up their first win of the season in Nashville on Saturday. Mike White, a quarterback that Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker was very complimentary of throughout the offseason, was tremendous in the win throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for two more. White is now the first quarterback in Vanderbilt history to record six touchdowns in one game.
  • Week 2 Matchup: vs No. 22 Wake Forest

South Carolina def. Georgia State, 35-14

  • With the South Carolina mascot name controversy in the rearview mirror, it’s time to focus on the important things in Columbia – football. All eyes were on transfer quarterback Spencer Rattler for the Gamecocks on Saturday night. Rattler threw one touchdown and two interceptions while not providing much in the rushing game, either. The Gamecocks found themselves training in the third quarter but outlasted Georgia State in the end for the victory.
  • Week 2 Matchup: @ No. 19 Arkansas

The SEC West has also gone undefeated in week one, however, LSU still has yet to play at the time of this publication:

  • No. 6 Texas A&M def. Sam Houston, 31-0
  • No. 19 Arkansas def. No. 23 Cincinnati, 31-24
  • No. 21 Ole Miss def. Troy, 28-10
  • Auburn def. Mercer, 42-16
  • No. 1 Alabama def. Utah State, 55-0
  • Mississippi State def. Memphis, 49-23
  • Florida State @ LSU, Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
