Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker officially launched his Heisman Trophy campaign Saturday, totaling 461 yards and three touchdowns in the Vols’ win over then-No. 20 Florida.

“Hendon played his butt off tonight,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said postgame. “He played at an elite level. Decisive with the football. Accurate with the football— intermediate, short, long— used his legs at the right time. Created big plays there and a tough competitor man. The offense fed off of him all night long.”

Sportsbooks updated Heisman Trophy odds backed up the talk surrounding Hooker’s Heisman candidacy following the game.

Hooker’s odds skyrocketed following his breakout performance, jumping all the way to +1600 on both FanDuel and Vegas Insider.

On Fan Duel, Hooker jumped all the way from +5000 to +1600 after his breakout performance.

Now at +1600, Hooker ranks fourth nationally in Heisman odds behind just CJ Shroud, Bryce Young and Caleb Williams. The trio have consensually been the top three Heisman candidates since the 2023 odds were released.

Hooker started the season with similar odds than he did entering week four, varying between +4000 and +6000 depending on the site. The super senior quarterback started the season tied for the 12th best Heisman odds according to FanDuel. Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson entered the season with the same odds as Hooker.

Threw four games, Hooker’s completed 72% of his passes for 1,193 yards, eight touchdowns and zero interceptions. The Greensboro, North Carolina native’s added 175 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Hooker and Tennessee return to the field against LSU on Oct. 8 following the bye week. The Vols and Tigers kick off at noon ET on ESPN.
