Fourth-year coach Kellie Harper led the Lady Vols to the Sweet 16 a season ago for the first time since 2016. Tennessee started the season red-hot, jumping out to a 20-1 record before stumbling with a 4-6 record to finish the regular season.

The Lady Vols return an abundance of talent from last season’s Sweet 16 team including guard Jordan Horston and center Tamari Key. Harper brought in an excellent transfer class led by Mississippi State star guard Rickea Jackson.

Tennessee’s men’s basketball team fell a game short of the Sweet 16 after a strong strong season a year ago. The Vols finished second in the SEC regular season before winning the program’s first SEC Tournament since 1979.

Rick Barnes’ eighth Tennessee team returns stars Zakai Zeigler, Santiago Vescovi and Josiah Jordan-James and added five-star forward Julian Phillips and Indiana State shooting guard Tyreke Key.

The Vols open their 2022-23 season on Nov. 7 against Tennessee Tech and the Lady Vols open their season on Nov. 8 at Ohio State.
