There has been a worry on social media recently that ESPN’s College GameDay could be moving away from Knoxville this weekend. On Monday, the College GameDay Twitter account removed their posts announcing the location of Knoxville, which led many to speculate whether GameDay was going to stay true to their original announcement or switch things up.
However, as of Monday night, College GameDay host Kirk Herbstreit dispelled those rumors with two simple tweets.
“Just wanted to let people know @CollegeGameDay is 1000% coming to Knoxville this weekend,” Herbstreit tweeted out late Monday night. “We are fired up to come back to town – our ENTIRE crew can’t wait to get there and give this game the love and hype it deserves – see ya in Knoxville this weekend! @Vol_Football @AlabamaFTBL“
Herbstreit also addressed the confusion about the tweets that were taken down.
Not sure the details. Guessing a copyright issue with the music our social team used. But we’re coming and whatever was taken down wasn’t anything more than that. Sorry for any confusion. https://t.co/1KNEa9C0bl

With College GameDay already landing in Knoxville as a location three weeks ago, some fans in other conferences have been vocal about the landmark show returning to a Tennessee game so quickly. The Vols hosted ESPN’s College GameDay during the Florida game when Tennessee also checkerboarded Neyland Stadium.
The Vols are hoping the same GameDay luck carries over this weekend against No. 3 Alabama.
In addition to GameDay being on campus, ESPN has also announced that The SEC Network’s SEC Nation pregame show will also be live from the University of Tennessee’s campus Saturday morning. Tennessee will be hosting an “orange-out” with the Neyland Stadium crowd when the Tide come to play at 3:30 p.m. ET.
When College GameDay was in Knoxville in September, it was a fantastic event that Tennessee fans packed the house for. From skipping class on Friday to see the festivities live and in person to Saturday’s big show, Tennessee fans were active, present, and making noise all weekend long.
We’re still waiting on more information regarding where GameDay and SEC Nation will be set up around campus. However, stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for more details on that announcement when it is made.
Despite the confusion and the rumors all day Monday, Kirk Herbstreit has confirmed that ESPN’s College GameDay will be set up at the University of Tennessee this weekend.
No. 6 Tennessee will host No. 3 Alabama on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET in Neyland Stadium.
