As the new No. 1 team in the nation, the Tennessee Volunteers are the talk of the football world here on Wednesday morning.
ESPN’s College Football Playoff Rankings show on Tuesday night revealed the Vols as the initial No. 1 seed in the playoff rankings with Ohio State, Georgia, and Clemson in order behind them.
On the flip side, though, the AP Top 25 poll voters kept the Bulldogs on top this week. Tennessee did move up to the No. 2 ranking, but it didn’t send Ohio State down. The Volunteers and the Buckeyes are tied at No. 2 in the week 10 AP rankings.
Tennessee did receive three more first-place votes than Ohio State, though.
As far as the SEC goes, it’s the same five teams in both sets of rankings. The AP Poll has seen many from the conference come and go this season including Texas A&M, Arkansas, Kentucky, and South Carolina, but the list looks to be trimming itself down as the season moves into November.

The College Football Playoff rankings have Tennessee ahead of Georgia and Alabama, while the AP voters have Georgia ahead of the Vols and Tide. Meanwhile, the playoff rankings also have LSU over Ole Miss, while AP voters have that flipped once again.
Questions will be answered in the very near future, though. Tennessee and Georgia square off for a monumental matchup in Athens while LSU and Alabama duke it out in Baton Rouge. The SEC’s other ranked team, Ole Miss, will be waiting patiently to host Alabama after their game against the Tigers.
