The Tennessee Volunteers are heading into week three of the 2022 season with a No. 15 ranking and a matchup with Akron on the horizon.

The Vols returned to Knoxville late Saturday night after a successful business trip to Pittsburgh. Tennessee left with a victory over No. 17 Pittsburgh in a thrilling yet nail-biting overtime contest.

Now, Tennessee turns its attention to Akron. The Zips (1-1) will take on the Vols inside of Neyland Stadium this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel opened up the week with a press conference inside the Tennessee facility on Monday. Heupel began by answering questions regarding the Pittsburgh game before talking about the week ahead for the Tennessee football team.

“Quarterback, when healthy, the guy has the ability to be involved in the run game,” Heupel said about Akron. “Some of that is by design, some of that is just on drop back, him scrambling. We’ve got to do a good job of applying pressure but containing him. We’ve got to do a better job out on the outside. Being more consistent in winning one-on-ones, and I’m talking about defensively. Offensively, multiple front and coverages and only being two weeks into their scheme, both offensively and defensively from them, you know there’s going to be something different that shows up on tape. As they continue to grow inside of what they’re doing as their personnel gets more comfortable in their system, so we have got to be able to adjust to what we see on Saturday too.”
